Volunteer Network
GFIDF’s volunteer corps is composed primarily of longtime bereaved partners and volunteer therapists. Together, they play a vital role in supporting GFIDF’s work across several areas:
-
Emergency Unit - Most volunteers serve in emergency support teams, providing immediate assistance and personal support to bereaved partners and their parents during the first year after the loss.
-
Outreach and Locating Unit - Led by Shaked Dor, a longtime bereaved partner, this team is responsible for quickly identifying bereaved partners of fallen IDF soldiers or members of the security forces. Immediately upon the public release of a soldier’s name, the team monitors digital channels and social networks, cross-checks information, and within hours determines whether the fallen soldier had a partner. If so, they locate and verify contact information to ensure the partner receives timely support.
-
Telephone and Digital Operations Center - Established at the start of the Swords of Iron War through a generous donation from Bynet Data Communications, the operations center is staffed by volunteer members of GFIDF. It serves as the first point of contact for a wide range of inquiries, including reports of bereaved partners, volunteer applications, donations, partnership requests, and more. Each inquiry is met with an immediate and personalized response.
All volunteers receive role-specific training before beginning their service and are provided with continuous professional guidance and supervision throughout their time in the corps.
